TweetChesterton High School senior Sarah Jackett is a recipient of the Secondary Student Career and Technical Education Awards for Excellence from the Indiana Department of Education. The award will be presented at 1:00 p.m. on March 13, 2012, in a public ceremony at the Indiana Government Center South Auditorium in Indianapolis. For the awardees, the day's special activities also include a luncheon and reception held in the Indiana Government Center Atrium.
Jackett is a second year student in the Video Production and Media Studies at the Porter County Career and Technical Center in Valparaiso. She is one of thirteen secondary student award recipients being recognized statewide for excellence in career and technical education.
Indiana is a leader nationally in career and technical education with outstanding students in programs across the state. The annual awards program allows for the recognition of student excellence based upon scholarship, leadership, employability, and career and technical skill proficiency.
The Awards for Excellence program is sponsored by the Indiana Department of Education. Nominations are reviewed by committees with representatives of business and industry as well as career and technical education administrators and teachers.
Jackett is the daughter of Mark and Katherine Jackett of Valparaiso. She plans to attend Ball State University to continue her studies in Video Production.
