Indiana Dunes East State Park Road Closed Through Winter

East State Park Road at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore will be closed for reconstruction beginning Monday, October 31, 2011. The Federal Highway Administration expects the road to be closed through May 2012.

The project will rebuild the intersection at East State Park Road and Beverly Drive to reduce road flooding and improve the wetlands of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and Indiana Dunes State Park. The project will also include resurfacing the length of the road. The closure will include the entire road from U.S. Highway 12, north to the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore beach parking lot.

As of November 30, 2011, the closure will extend to all of East State Park Road and Lakefront Drive west of Dunbar Avenue.

During the closure there will be signs posted for detours. Visitors to the national lakeshore or to the Town of Beverly Shores should use alternate routes.
