Library and European Market Partner to Premiere Medieval Market and Faire

June 14, 2011

Chesterton’s European Market and the Westchester Public Library, in cooperation with the Dragon Days and Summer Knights Summer Reading Program, have partnered to host the Medieval Market & Faire in Thomas Centennial Park from 10am to 2pm July 9, 2011. The Medieval era is currently the theme of the summer reading program, which ends July 22, 2011. This event is also a great edition to compliment the European Market season.

There will be all kinds of quality, educational fun for children and families at the Medieval Market & Faire. The Shire of Greyhope will be present to provide a real medieval experience with sword fighting and other demonstrations, music, tents, medieval garb and other traditions of 17th Century Europe. Other activities include a Westchester Library Reading tent where kids may collect a scroll with stamps for a scavenger hunt, origami demonstrations, a 4H tent, a Boy Scout tent with knot tying, an Action Science tent on catapulting, chess, castle jump, tarot reading tent and much more.

The Westchester Public Library and the European Market are currently accepting volunteers to assist in set up and planning of the event. For more information or to volunteer, contact Merribeth at (219) 926-7696.
