Indiana Dunes State Park hosting snowmelt contest

Indiana Dunes State Park is hosting a snow melt contest. Visitors to the park can place their entry as to when the large snow pile will finally melt. The participant with the closest guess will be awarded a 2011 DNR Annual Entrance Permit.   With more than 50 inches received so far this season, snow piles are abundant throughout the park. Free Tax Service for Elderly and Low Income

Free tax assistance for the elderly and those taxpayers with low to middle income will once again be available at Westchester Public Library, Thomas branch, 200 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton. This free assistance available through AARP and the IRS assists taxpayers in filling out income tax forms. 8th Grade Reality Store Volunteers Needed

The 8th Grade Reality Store is set for March 17, 2011 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Chesterton High School at 2125 S 11th Street. Donations Needed for Spring Book Sale

It’s time to clean out those winter books and donate them to the Friends of the Library. The Friends of Westchester Public Library announce they will hold their Spring Friends of the Library Book Sale at Thomas Library 200 W. Indiana Ave., Chesterton April 15 to April 17.
