Indiana Dunes State Park to feature special fall events

Catch up with the fall season and all its beauty at Indiana Dunes State Park. Field Station Golf Outing

The Field Station is holding its 5th Annual Golf Outing on September 25 at The Brassie Golf Course in Chesterton, IN. Registration begins at noon. Golf begins at 1:00 p.m. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. The cost is $75 per golfer which includes golf, cart, dinner, 2 drink tickets, awards, contests and prizes. History Museum's New Chesterton Walking Tour

The staff of Westchester Township History Museum have completed a new edition of the Chesterton Walking Tour. The publication updates and expands two walking tour booklets originally written by Norris Coambs, Chris Anderson, and Jane Walsh-Brown and published by Westchester Public Library for the Duneland Folk Festival in the 1980’s. Exhibit on History of Burns Harbor

The staff of Westchester Township History Museum are currently preparing a new exhibit on the history of the Town of Burns Harbor.  Curator Jane Walsh-Brown, museum researcher Eva Hopkins, and guest curator and Burns Harbor historian Bill Meyer are collecting maps, artifacts, photographs, and artwork that will help to tell the story of the early history, the development of the Westport community, and the incorporation of the Town of Burns Harbor. Sign Language Course

Westchester Public Library will offer a six week beginner sign language course at Hageman Library, 100 Francis Street, Porter. "Getting Started in Sign Language" will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30pm beginning October 5 for those in grades 5 and up. There is no charge for the program. Book Sale Volunteers Needed

Do you love working with books? The Friends of Westchester Public Library need your help to sort books and set up their Spring Book Sale on Saturday, October 9, from 9:00 am until noon.   Although many books are already sorted and boxed for the sale, the Friends still have hundreds of volumes to categorize and many boxes of books to move and to arrange on the sale tables.
