TweetDuneland Economic Development Company (DEDC) President, Mark Chamberlain, has recently announced the election of officers for 2010. Mr. Chamberlain has been elected to continue as President while Patricia Carlisle was elected as Vice-President, Heather Ennis as Treasurer and Toni Biancardi as Secretary. Other members of the Board include Rick Hokanson, Gayle Polakowski, Davis Lasser, Bernie Doyle and Brock Lloyd.
The mission of the DEDC, Chamberlain emphasized, is to “enhance the quality of life in the Duneland area by promoting economic stability and responsible future growth.” In the past year, according to Chamberlain, the DEDC has focused on “breathing new life into its mission.” After electing the new board, a revamp of their Bylaws and reintroduction to the Economic Development Community of northwest Indiana, the DEDC is now “positioned to capitalize on new partnerships and collaborations,” Chamberlain stated. Locally, its primary function will be to act as a fiscal agent and resource center for economic development projects within the Duneland community. The Board looks forward to developing additional partnerships and collaborations that will benefit the communities it serves.
2009 DEDC highlights include the successful funding and launch of a comprehensive new website as well as hosting the inaugural Duneland Economic Development Summit attended by nearly 100 local and regional stakeholders. “Based on the summit's initial success and feedback, we expect to make this an annual event.”
