Trick or Treat Downtown – Kick Things Off at the Duneland Chamber of Commerce

Downtown businesses will be offering trick or treating for Duneland families this year on Friday, October 24, from 4-6pm. Parents and their children should look for purple flyers in the windows of participating businesses along Indian Boundary, Calumet and Broadway in Chesterton. Additionally, Chesterton Fire Department will park their fire truck in the Duneland Chamber of Commerce parking lot, located at 220 Broadway in Chesterton, for children to explore. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore to Conduct the Fall Prescribed Fires

The National Park Service is planning five prescribed fires this fall at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Approximately 1,106 acres will be burned. Fire is used as a tool for the park’s long-term restoration efforts. On the east end of Beverly Shores, 186 acres are to be burned between Montana Avenue and Central Avenue Beach. Thomas Library Tech Help Desk Expands Hours

Westchester Public Library has expanded the hours for the Tech Help Desk. The Tech Help Desk is free one-on-one technology help on a first come first serve in a one-on-one setting. No registration is necessary.  The Tech Help Desk is open on Mondays from 5-6 p.m., Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m., and Fridays from 10-11 a.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Serials/Automation Department at Thomas Library, 200 W. Westchester Public Library Book Sale Volunteers Needed

Do you love working with books? The Friends of Westchester Public Library need your help to sort books and set up their Fall Book Sale on Saturday, October 11, from 9 am until noon. Although many books are already sorted and boxed for the sale, the Friends still have hundreds of volumes to categorize and many boxes of books to move and to arrange on the sale tables. Canoemobile at Marquette Park Lagoons
