The County Sheriff is elected by the county’s citizens at-large for a four year term. The duties of the County Sheriff include serving as the keeper of the peace, serving warrants and subpoenas, selling foreclosed properties, and attending the County Commissioner and Council meetings and carrying out their orders. Additionally, the County Sheriff controls the county jail and makes decisions about the prisoners.
Our current Porter County Sheriff is David Lain.
