The Board of Zoning Appeals is made up of five members. The town council president appoints three members, one of which must serve on the Plan Commission. The Plan Commission appoints one member to the board and the fifth member is appointed by the Town Council. Therefore, two members of the Board of Zoning Appeals also serve on the Plan Commission and the remaining three members must not serve in any other appointed or elected function of the government. Members serve three year terms.
The purpose of the Board of Zoning Appeals is to hear appeals and determine if exceptions should be made to the zoning rules of the town. They can grant variances, allowing land to be used in a different way than it was originally zoned, or intended to be used.
The Board of Zoning Appeals meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.
