Question?
Our three apple trees were sickly with apple-cedar rust last season. Do I have to chopped down the cedar trees nearby that had the bright orange "koosh" things on it, or is there another way to solve the problem?
Answer:
Cedar Apple Rust - Chop down one or the other host tree and the problem is solved. However if you want to try to keep both, spraying a fungicide at the time the spores are spreading will help to control it. Bordeux mix fungicide is good if available in your area. Repeat applications must be made and if it rains off, you must reapply to protect the tree.
