Question?
We are first time blackberry bush owners. We planted them a few months ago and some have died, others are still alive. Instead of growing out they are growing up. Can we cut the tall branches and somehow put them in a bucket of water to help them root and make a new plant? Thank you for any advice. Mrs. Alison
Answer:
They need to get some age to them to start brambling. There are a number of ways to prune depending on how you want to care for them. The best time to take a cutting is in spring on the newest growth. You can use rootone and vermiculite for planting to bring it along faster. Good luck, Chuck
