Question?
We have a large beautiful apple tree that bore abundant fruit two years ago. That fall my son was told to prune the top of the tree so that it was only 10 feet tall. This past year the blooms were froze in a late frost. This
year the tree is bearing only on one side. Is there a reason for this?
Answer:
Apple trees tend to be cyclic in their blooming. The blooms may have froze more on one side of the tree than the other as frost does not form in the shade and the one side of the tree could have protected the other side. Make
sure to fertilize to increase the vigor of the tree.
