Question:

I HAVE A BAMBOO PLANT GROWING IN A GLASS VASE THT IS FILLED WITH STONES. HOW DO I PREVENT AND GET RID OF ALGAE FORMING ON THE GLASS VASE? PLEASE HELP!

Answer: First, I believe that what you have is Dieffenbachia which has been being sold the last 5-7 years as "Lucky Bamboo". In reality, it is not a bamboo at all. Now the algae problem. In a small confined atmosphere it is
possible for the plant out compete the algae for the nutrients in the water, making it harder for algae to grow. However, the more direct sunlight, the more chance there would be for algae to form. We have additives that we use in birdbaths and water fountains and garden ponds that would help also. See us for which one would work best for you in your situation.
