TweetValparaiso clergy and faith leaders will gather at the Porter County Court House Square, Sunday, May 23, at 3:00 p.m. A public signing of a statement declaring unity against racism within Valparaiso will take place at that time. The statement reads: We affirm that racism is sin. As Valparaiso communities of faith we agree to stand together against it. All are welcome to attend and affirm the statement by affixing their signature to the statement.
Clergy representing Valparaiso congregations started discussing ways to address growing racial tensions in Valparaiso in January. This is the first of many initiatives planed through the Valparaiso Diversity Network Association. The VDNA is comprised of community and business leaders committed to helping Valparaiso be a welcoming, diverse community for all regardless of faith, color, ethnicity or culture.
