TweetThe Mad About Mystery book series continues with a look at Robert B. Parker, the dean of American crime fiction. The program, which is free of charge, will take place at the Westchester Township History Museum Wednesday, June 9 and will be repeated Saturday, June 12. Both sessions will begin at 2 p.m. The museum, an educational and cultural service of Westchester Public Library, is located at 700 W. Porter Ave., Chesterton, IN.
Ron Smith will present Robert B. Parker and his wise-cracking, street-smart Boston private eye Spenser.
Parker is the bestselling, award-winning author of more than 45 books. He was named Grand Master of the Edgar Awards in 2002 by the Mystery Writers of America. He was renowned for his Spenser novels. The New York Times Book Review said, “We are witnessing one of the great series in the history of the American detective story.”
Parker began writing his novels in 1971 while teaching at Boston’s Northeastern University. He also launched two other bestselling series featuring, respectively, Massachusetts police chief Jesse Stone and Boston private detective Sunny Randall.
A general discussion will follow the presentation. Refreshments will be served.
Mad About Mysteries will continue in July with culinary mysteries, presented by LuAnne DePriest.
