Thursday Afternoon Adventures - Cold Blooded Creatures

Participants in Westchester Public Library’s summer reading program “Adventures on the High Seas” are invited to Cold Blooded Creatures with Jim Nesci on Thursday, June 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Westchester Public Library Service Center, 100 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton. Families of participants are welcome also.

Cold Blooded Creatures offers participants the opportunity to access the latest information about reptiles. Jim addresses the relationship between reptiles and dinosaurs in his presentations. Children and adults alike are treated to exciting and useful facts about a misunderstood group of creatures. Although Jim is very serious about his reptiles, he uses humor to relax his audience.

During all presentations, respect and safety for the animals and participants take front stage. Jim's message includes the proper way to handle his creatures. This attention to detail assures a positive learning environment. Jim's message to conserve and protect reptiles provides the focus for his shows.

Nesci has been interested in reptiles since a very early age. He got his first garter snake when he was only 3 years old! Throughout his childhood and young adult life he continued to raise reptiles. He was also very interested in dinosaurs and their relationship to modern day reptiles. In 1977, Jim performed his first Reptile show for a 6th grade Science class in Orland Park, IL. Not only has he continued to do that program every year, but has since performed countless events including many more schools programs, birthday parties, cub scout events, corporate parties and more.

Thursday Adventures on July 1 will be the Feeding Frenzy by the Shedd Aquarium. Take a tour of the Michigan City Lighthouse and learn some things the Coast Guard does at the July 8 Thursday Adventures.
