TweetWestchester Public Library will offer a variety of art programs geared for young adults from 12-15 years old. The series will begin with Hardware Jewelry on Wednesday, June 9 from 2-3:30 p.m. The class will take place at the Westchester Public Library Service Center, 100 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton. The program is free of charge, but registration at the Reference desk is necessary.
Library staff member Karyn Hartney will teach attendees how to create jewelry of all types using different kinds of hardware, including beads, washers, hex nuts, etc.
Hartney is a graduate of Chesterton High School and the American Academy of Art in Chicago where she graduated with an Associate in Technology with a major in Graphic Art. She worked in advertising and the graphic art field for many years before starting her own business, Columbine Jewelry Design.
Registrations are being taken for the other classes in the series: Clay Projects on June 30 and July 2; Sand Casting on July 14, and Making/Painting Clay Beads on July 28.
