Tweet“Bits and Bytes” will continue Tuesday, June 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Westchester Public Library, with “Internet & Security.” Attendees will meet in the Bertha Wood meeting room on the second floor of Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton. The class is free, but registration is required as computer stations are limited to 15. Registration will begin on June 15 in the Serials Department on the second floor.
Attendees at the Internet & Security class will cover Internet basics such as types of internet access, bandwidth, modems, browsers and ISP’s. They will also learn to customize their browser, use the Favorites, History and Search features, set up an email account and download files and programs.
The Security portion of the class will cover password protection, child safety on the Internet, and how to avoid scams, spoofs and viruses. Attendees will also learn about cookies, how to conduct a secure transaction, and anti-virus software.
