TweetThreads of Time: Historic Textiles at the Museum, will open February 21st and continue through May 16th at the Westchester Township History Museum, 700 W. Porter Ave., Chesterton. The museum, which is an educational service of Westchester Public Library, is open free of charge, Wednesday - Sunday, 1-5 p.m. or by appointment.
The exhibit celebrates a wide variety of textiles from the museum's collection, including 19th century coverlets and quilts and a variety of antique clothing and handwork.
Museum curator Jane Walsh-Brown will lead tours of the new exhibit at the opening on Sunday, February 21st from 1-5 p.m.
Two additional public programs have been planned for the exhibit. Larry Vallem will demonstrate traditional Scandinavian weaving on March 14 from 2- 4 p.m. and on April 1, Mary Persyn of the String-Along Quilters will meet with quilt owners to help date their quilts and identify quilt patterns.
