When is the best time to spray an apple tree ?

Posted on December 29, 2001

Question:
When is the best time to spray an apple tree and with what. Walt

Answer:
Two sprays are necessary for apple trees. One in the dormant season and one in the growing season (spring & summer). Fertilome scalicide is used in fall after the leaves fall off the tree. This serves to kill any wintering egg cases and larvea left on the tree from the summer season. An application again in early spring of Fertilome Scalicide mixed with Hi-Yield Lime-Sulpher spray helps to rid the trees of any over wintering insects and disease. Fertilome Fruit Tree Spray is used starting at bud break and use continues every 10-14 days thought the growing season up until harvest time to protect from insects and disease that will try to infest the tree during the growing season.
