Question:
What is the "glue" used to secure the seeds to the bird houses??? It can't be a toxic product, as the birds will be eating the seeds . Plus this "glue" will need to withstand the cold and sometimes sunshine. Thanks
Answer:
We talked to the Maine Manna Company who makes seed cakes. They said the seed is held together with "Technical Gelatin". This is a biodegradable and non-toxic material and they seem to have a patent on it cause it is not available to consumers. I would venture to say that a glue used for school crafts that is non-toxic and biodegradable could do the job for attaching seeds to a flat surface. It would not last forever but the birds would probably eat the seeds before it wore out.
Good Luck, Chuck
