Weed killers on blue rug

Posted on November 5, 2002

Question:
I have a old bed of blue rug juniper that is getting over run with mostly quack grass. What can I use to get rid of this and not harm the juniper?

Answer:
Quackgrass and other grasses can be removed from junipers and other ground covers with the use of Fertilome Over-the-Top or Hi-Yield Poast. Both of these are used directly over top of many ornamental plants without harming them. They are only effective on grassy weeds and not broadleaf weeds. Check the labels for plants that may be sensitive to either application. Good Luck, Chuck.
