Violets in my lawn

Posted on August 21, 2002

Question:
Chuck:I am looking for the magic bullet to rid my lawn of violets . It is being overrun with them. I see a post which is answered with Fertilome-Weed out as the answer. Is this a product which is available anywhere or only through you? What guarantee does it come with? (If properly applied of course) I've tried small patches with round up and it gets rid of it but it takes everything else with it. We will have some brown patches with the all the violets gone but at least some grass seed to start growing back it it isn't killed in the process. What is the cost per whatever size that's UPS shippable if not available someplace locally.

Thanks for your help.

Answer:
Fertilome products are satisfaction garanteed or money back. Many applications of Weed-Out should take care of them. It may work better if you add a spreader-sticker to it. Do not mow before application or until at least three days after. And no rain for 24 hours. Weeds must be actively growing at time of application. Weed-out should be available at any fertilome dealer. If you have big patches I would stick with Round-up as you can replant grass in 7 days. Hi-yield(by Fertilome) has Round-up under the Kilzall label. It may be cheaper than Round-up as you are not paying for the name. Good Luck, Chuck.
