Question:
Chuck,
I love your web page and the helpful information you give there. I have a large section of vinca which is being overtaken by a weed which I can't identify. It does grow a stem which flowers and seeds. I have attempted to pull them before they reach the seed stage, but can't seem to keep up. Is there a pre-emergent that I can put on the area which will keep new plants from coming in the spring (they do die in the winter)? I live in southern Kentucky about 10 miles from the Tennessee border. Thanks.
Answer:
The pre-emergant Eptam is safe to use on groundcovers. The more popular one Preen is trifluralin which can sometimes burn groundcovers. Hi-yield is the company that makes Eptam.
