Mushrooms popping up all over

Posted on April 1, 2003

Question:
I've got these stinky mushrooms popping up all over the place. Mostly in wood-chipped areas. I was told to very gently dig them up, place in a plastic bag and dispose off them, but it's not working! Every other day a few more sprout up. Any help would be awesome. Thanks, Jeremy in St. Augie, Florida

Answer:
Sometimes constant raking to disturb the growth helps but is not a cure all. Some copper sulphate is labeled for mushrooms but could kill surrounding plants if not careful. A fungicide called Consan also has labelling for mushroom control. Remember only to go by label directions and follow all suggestions for applications and warnings. Good Luck, Chuck.
