Is there a way to tell what the sex is of young ducks?

Posted on May 9, 2006

Question:
I recently was given two Pekin ducks, about 3-4 weeks old. They are growing very rapidly. They are turning from the yellow to white color. The Question is: Is there a way to tell what the sex of these ducks are at this time?

Answer:
The very experienced look at the vents and sex ducklings, but it is tough for the amateur. Maybe contact the local 4-H and ask for the poultry leader. The phone is 465-3555. As the ducks grow, the tail feathers on the drake will curl up and so is the indicator for sex.
