Hydrangeas mulched in Minnesota

Posted on February 3, 2003

Question:
Hydrangeas mulched in Minnesota

Answer:
I am not familiar with your climate but in our area it can be advantages. Mulching should be done well after the ground has gone dormant and not before as putting mulch on warm ground can cause a greenhouse effect in the crown of the plant and do more harm than good. Equally important is removing the mulch at the proper time. Good Luck, Chuck.
