How do I get rid of blackberries in my yard?

Posted on September 27, 2002

Question:
Hi,
I have Blackberry Bushes attacking my yard! This is a new home that was
built on a field, so the bushes were not rid of properly. They are even
coming through our lawn. How do I kill the bushes without killing my lawn?
And is there a weed killer that will PERMANENTLY rid them?

Thanks!
Johanna

Answer:
The best remedy would be to spot apply with Hi-Yield Kilzall. This will kill it root and all. You can spray the whole plant or cut of the stems and treat the stump with it undiluted. Be aware that this can also kill your grass but if you are careful with your spot application, it will be minimal. In any case, with this product you can reseed grass in seven days after application. Read the label carefully. Good Luck, Chuck.
