Feeding new ducklings

Posted on March 12, 2003

Question:
I would like to know if our newly purchased ducklings can be fed cornmeal and water. If so what proportions and how often. If not what should we feed them and how often....we are new at this.

Answer:
Waterfowl can be fed a starter mash that does not contain medication. There are many on the market such as Purina Duck Starter. As they grow they can be switched to "grower" and then a "finisher" or an adult ration pellet. They should not be allowed to get wet so an appropriate waterer should be used. Best of luck in your new venture. Chuck.
