Question:
Chuck,
I want to plant a fast growing tall hedge for a span of about 80' along one side of the yard. I want this for a wind break and as a visual barrier. I would like to have a height of 8+ feet. Can you suggest anything? In your opinion would a tree line be better? If so, suggestions?
Nate (Valparaiso)
Answer:
White pine make a good windbreak and are fast growing for an evergreen type tree. Also arborvitae is fairly fast. If you prefer not to use evergreens then forsythia, viburnum, lilac, and even a tall variety of cotoneaster. Good Luck, Chuck.
