Question:
I bought a baby duckling 2 months ago and i started her off on bread and water now i have started to give her brussil sprouts (chopped) fresh corn of the cob and crushed weetbix and of course fresh water, for 4 weeks my husband and i have noticed that the ducklings legs are funny the way she is walking is like she cannot walk straight and stops and rests could you please let me know what may be causing her legs to do that, before i take her to the vet.
Answer:
This can be a deficiency in diet or sometimes caused by a chill coming out of the egg while hatching. Your choice of feed is not the best you can do for this little chick. Prepared feeds like Purina Duck Starter & Grower have all the essential vitamins & supplements to build a strong body system. And keep them growing strong through adulthood, When in captivity, many minerals are not picked up during the grazing process. Also, a grit for digestion and some oyster shell for calcium are essential.
