Am I killing this beautiful Nikko Blue Hydrangea bush?

Question:
Hi,
I'm renting a house and in the garden, by the side of the fence, is a huge Nikko Blue Hydrangea bush. When I first moved here, two months ago, the flower was a blue color and huge. I don't have a green thumb, but the landlords told me to water the bush often and keep the soil moist. I've been doing this, but now the flower is turning green and sort of white and some of the flowers seem to be dying. Am I killing this beautiful bush? Is there something I should be doing? How often should I water it? I really don't want to kill this bush and have my landlords upset that I did so.
Any help would be appreciated!

Answer:
If you are in our local area it could be getting plenty of water from the rains. However, as the flower ages it does change color and this could be its natural process. Bring in a flower, leaf, and stem and I can take a look at it.
