Algae control in pond

Posted on July 18, 2004

Question:
I was told I could put bleach in my 100 gallon pond to rid it of algae and it would not harm my fish, plants, snail, etc. Is this true?

Answer:
To my knowledge bleach can be harmful to both fish & plants. We recommend a good filter system, microbe-lift PBL added once a week, and good plant coverage (about 1/3 of the water surface) and oxygenating plants. See us for specifics and other alternatives.
