Swim in the cool waters of Lake Michigan and bird watch and hike along the marked trails at West Beach. The easy to moderate West Beach Trail offers 2 loops totaling 2.5 miles. The Dune Succession Trail adds a moderate extra mile starting at the beach. The trails feature dunes, woods, prairie, ponds and access to Long Lake. Fishing is available at Long Lake.

There is a bath house with showers and lockers open during the summer as well as year-round restroom facilities. A large parking lot accommodates RVs.

This area is open from 7am until dusk from Memorial Day through Labor Day and is open from 9 am until dusk for the rest of the year. The area is open to walk-in traffic from 6 am to sunset. There are Lifeguards on duty during the summer and a fee is charged only in the summer.
